He applied his directorial talents to clients such as the New Democrat Network, the John Kerry Latino Campaign, Gore 2000 Latino Campaign, Coca Cola, MCI, AT&T, JC Penney, Carl's Junior, Wells Fargo, Converse, Sears, Ikea, Honda, and Lincoln Mercury. Aira directed the MTV Latino campaign for "Rock The Vote" featuring a soundtrack by Carlos Santana. He is honored with numerous awards, including Clio's. Ofrenda, Inc. represents an international team of filmmakers and produces independent features, promotional videos, radio campaigns, and commercials. Antonio Gonzalez, president of Southwest Voter Registration and Education Project, recruited Aira for his Latino marketing expertise where Aira developed their creative media campaigns for over ten years. Aira created numerous Public Service Announcements for clients such as Mayor Ray Flynn of Boston and Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, and The Kaiser Family Foundation with broadcast media. An advocate of Latino empowerment, Aira is dedicated to creating media campaigns designed to encourage Latinos to vote and take part in the political process. Aira was born in Cuba, and raised in Venezuela. At age fifteen, he wrote newsreels at the prestigious Bolivar Films in Caracas. His outstanding work and unique vision resulted in the award of a government grant to study abroad at Fredrico Fellini's Cinecitta in Italy. He attended Columbia University and is a graduate of Emerson College in Communications and Film. Aira brings a unique understanding of youth culture, directing groundbreaking music videos for MTV Network. He directed several films, including Chapter X (scored by Ric Ocasek of The Cars), winning "Best Experimental Film" at the Los Angeles International Film Expo, and Beset, now part of MOCA's permanent collection, showcased in the USA and Europe at the Institute of Contemporary Art. He wrote and directed the independent feature Girl in 3D, awarded Best Thriller and Best Actress at the New York International Film and Video Festival 2004. His first commercial for Sporto Shoes at Ingalls Advertising earned him a Clio Award nomination in 1985, launching his directing career. After winning fourteen "New England Best of Broadcasting Awards", Aira ventured into Latino marketing. Aira's feature and television projects in development include the Latin Thing, Somewhere, Kemosabe, and Bones for the Dogs.
