Biography

Philippe Agostini was born on August 11, 1910 in Paris, France. He was a cinematographer and director, known for Rififi (1955), White Paws (1949) and Rencontres (1962). He was married to Odette Joyeux and Clémentine Lucie Marie Louise Godgé. He died on October 20, 2001 in Paris, France.

Husband of Odette Joyeux. Father of Claude Agostini and Yves Agostini.

Began as an assistant cinematographer in 1934, learning his craft from Georges Périnal and Armand Thirard. Worked as an army photographer during World War II. Full director of photography from 1943, working with some of the most renowned French film directors. Commenced directing himself from 1953.
