Biography

  • Svend Aage Alexander Reumert Aggerholm was a Danish actor and theatre director, recognized for his contributions to both stage and silent film.

Born in Aarhus, Denmark, Aggerholm embarked on his acting career at the age of 23, debuting on his birthday in 1898 at the Dagmar Theatre. His early theatrical engagements included positions at the Dagmar Theatre (1898-1902), the Folketeatret (1902-1908), and Det Ny Teater (1908-1910).

Around 1910, Aggerholm and his wife, actress Ellen Aggerholm, ventured to England where they performed on various London theatre stages. Upon returning to Denmark in 1914, he established his own theatre company, which toured extensively throughout the provinces and even into Norway, staging productions such as "Et dukkehjem", "Fruentimmerskolen," and "Kaj og Kate".

Aggerholm took on the role of theatre director at Odense Teater in two separate periods. The first tenure lasted from 1917 to 1921. He later returned to Odense Teater as director again from 1930 until his death in 1940. Beyond theatre management, Aggerholm was celebrated for his "Dickens Evenings," captivating audiences across Denmark with his readings from Charles Dickens' works.
