Ruth Adelman

Ruth Adelman is an Emmy Award-winning Supervising Sound Editor with extensive experience in television sound post-production. Her credits span a wide range of television genres, including drama, comedy, crime, genre, and period productions. More recent credits include Abbott Elementary, Loot, A Small Light, DTF St. Louis, The Waterfront, Vampire Academy, In from the Cold, Perpetual Grace, LTD., Good Girls, Patriot, and Grimm. Adelman’s work on Abbott Elementary reflects her experience with naturalistic television sound, where production dialogue, overlapping performances, ADR, backgrounds, Foley, and effects must retain the immediacy of the show’s documentary-style approach. A Small Light required a detailed period sound environment, while Perpetual Grace, LTD. called for a more stylized approach to sound editorial. Her work on Good Girls demonstrates her experience moving between comedy, drama, crime, and action within the same series. Throughout her career, Adelman has developed long-standing working relationships with sound editors, ADR teams, Foley artists, sound designers, and re-recording mixers. Many of the sound professionals she works with have returned with her on multiple productions, creating experienced teams with a shared understanding of the creative and technical requirements of episodic television.
