Born into a family of Spanish descent, Abbina studied economics and music prior to becoming an actor. On screen from the 1960s, he appeared several times alongside actor-director Alberto Sordi. He retired in the first half of the 1970s, started painting and illustrated a book of poems by the poet Alda Merini which was exhibited in Rome.
