Biography

Aage Aaberge began his film activity as a production assistant on a short film in 1979, but chose to complete his undergraduate studies before continuing his film career. Once his film studies were complete in 1983, he started working as a production assistant until working his way up to production manager, and then, producer.

Aaberge has directed and produced shorts and documentaries. Concentrating on producing the last 30 years, he has been responsible for developing and producing over 35 films. One of his latest feature films, Kon-Tiki, was nominated for Golden Globe and The Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film in 2013.

Aaberge has also worked as a consultant for the International Labor Union (ILO) in Geneva for two years. For the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway he acted as a board member on the administration, in charge of the opening and closing ceremonies. He has been member of the board of The Norwegian Film Institute for three periods and former Head of The Producer Association in Norway.

Aage Aaberge is also a lecturer at various media schools in Norway and has been a professor at The Norwegian Film School.
