Biography

John Follmer has helped advance the industry over his career in the entertainment field spanning production, post-production, animation and visual effects. Through creative and technological innovation in the transition to digital technology and the growth of international production, he has been at the forefront with creative technology solutions and innovative business models.

As Executive Producer, Head of Production and/or Producer for Academy Award and Emmy Award winning production companies he has overseen visual effects and animation production on over 50 feature films from Batman Forever to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1&2 for all the major studios including Warner Bros., Disney, Paramount, Twentieth Century Fox and Universal Pictures.

He founded, and was CEO/President, of Hollywood Feature Entertainment, LLC. securing European partnership with a base in Hollywood to develop content, finance, produce and distribute feature film productions.

A pioneer in the international production of visual effects and computer animation, he has overseen production and/or set up facilities in Mumbai, India; Chennai, India; Hyderabad, India; Tokyo, Japan; Moscow, Russia; Rome, Italy; Taipei, Taiwan; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; and Beijing, China.

He was denoted a Siggraph Pioneer by the international computer animation organization ACM. Follmer's 3D stereoscopic, large format and location - based film work includes what was the world's largest projected, computer animated film for Epcot Center, Walt Disney World, the 9-screen large format film, Poseidon's Fury for Universal's Islands of Adventure, and the 3D stereoscopic Marvin the Martian in the Third Dimension for Warner Bros.
