  • Mauro Bolognini was born on February 28, 1922 in Pistoia, Tuscany, Italy. He was a director and writer, known for Madamigella di Maupin (1966), Mosca addio (1987) and Careless (1962). He died on May 14, 2001 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.

  • Worked as assistant director under neo-realist director Luigi Zampa from 1948 to 1952. Subsequently in France as assistant to Jean Delannoy and Yves Allégret. Directed his own films from 1953, his best output coming from scripts by Pier Paolo Pasolini (such as The Big Night (1959)) or adaptations of works by Alberto Moravia.
