Biography

Scott Mislan

Biography

  • Scott Mislan's production career began at the age of 9 when he borrowed his father's Super-8 camera. He immediately started making short films with his family and friends. While still in high school he was taking courses in television, photography and theatre. After a few of his short films won student film awards, he went on to graduate from the New York Institute of Technology with a degree in communications and film.

He began his professional career at the bottom as a PA on the Fox TV series Alien Nation. Incidently, he was also tasked with writing all the alien dialogue. "Paying his dues," he worked his way to producer in a few short years. While making a living in the industry he loved he continued to pursue his passion: writing, producing and directing his own projects. During this time he made his official directorial debut with a pair of well received PSAs for the National Safety Council.

These projects were completed while he was producing high profile national commercials for A-list directors. The notoriety garnered him directing jobs of his own at Fox, ABC and MTV.

Mislan's creative career grew at an astonishing rate. In 1999 he sold his first screenplay to Artisan Entertainment. Since, he has directed and produced a variety of projects in all media. With several of his own scripts in development Mislan continues to immerse himself in the world he loves, entertainment media.

Trivia

  • Because Scott Mislan created many of the alien words and translated the English dialogue into Tenctonese for the "Alien Nation" television series the Tenctonese word for family is Mislan.
