Erin Daniels

Trivia

Erin Daniels

  • Contrary to erroneous rumors about salary negotiations, Erin's departure from The L Word (2004) was purely a creative decision from the show's creators, in particular Ilene Chaiken and Rose Lam. The creators wanted to tell an impacting story about death from cancer, and believed that Erin's immensely popular character - tennis player Dana Fairbanks - was well-liked enough to send a very strong message about mortality. The decision to kill Dana was met with great opposition from cast members and Erin herself. To this day, this remains the show's most controversial storyline.
  • The L Word (2004) co-star Jennifer Beals used to consult Erin for advice on doing some of the show's comedic scenes.
  • Speaks French fluently, and spends a lot of her time outside work in France.
  • Watched the first four seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) with best friend and cast mate Leisha Hailey while filming the second season of The L Word (2004). In turn, Leisha made Erin watch Reality Bites (1994) with her.
  • Tried out for 'Bette' and 'Alice' before landing the role of 'Dana' on The L Word (2004).
  • Best friends with The L Word (2004) cast mates Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey. Kate and Leisha have both confirmed that they still see Erin regularly back home in Los Angeles.
  • She was educated at Vassar College. Upon graduating from there (with a degree in Architecture and Art History), she relocated to New York to begin her entertainment career. She later moved to Los Angeles to further her career.
  • Has confirmed that she is heterosexual in real life, but continues to be open-minded about love.
  • Does great voice imitations.
  • While at Vassar, she took as many theater classes as she could without having to declare a second major.
  • Is allergic to cats.
  • Plays the piano.
  • Was a gymnast in her youth.
  • Of Jewish descent.
  • Turned down offer from The L Word (2004) creator Ilene Chaiken to star in a webisode series for her character, Dana Fairbanks, after Dana died from cancer in the show.
  • Growing up, she wanted to be either a furniture designer or archaeologist.
  • Was an avid Speech and Debate competitor in high school.
  • Her favorite movie of all time is Being There (1979) with Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine.
  • Has 20/20 vision - she wears neither glasses nor contacts in real life.
  • Mother, with ex-husband Chris Uettwiller, of son Ely Dashiel Uettwiller (b. August 4, 2009) and daughter (b. August 2012).
  • As of 2006, has two dogs named Henry and Max.
  • Has been friends with Clementine Ford for many years.
