Influential German composer of film scores, music for ballet and the theatre, piano and violin concertos, as well as popular dance tunes. Eisbrenner initially studied church music at the State Music Academy in Berlin and then worked as a pianist and arranger for a music publishing company. During the 1930's and 40's, he became a leading composer of movie themes at Ufa and Tobis, including classics like
Romanze in Moll (1943) and
Great Freedom No. 7 (1944). He was able to continue successfully after the war, writing for East German Defa films. From 1952, he was active as composer/arranger for radio Freies Berlin and as leader of the SFB Dance Orchestra. Eisbrenner was awarded a prestigious Filmband in Gold in 1974.
