Biography

Tonino Delli Colli was born on November 20, 1922 in Rome, Lazio, Italy. He was a cinematographer and actor, known for The Name of the Rose (1986), Life Is Beautiful (1997) and Bitter Moon (1992). He was married to Alexandra Delli Colli. He died on August 16, 2005 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.

Frequently worked with Pier Paolo Pasolini, Sergio Leone and Federico Fellini.

Italian cinematographer, who began his career as assistant cameraman at Cinecittà studios in 1938. He did his best work as Cinematographer for such directors as Pier Paolo Pasolini, Sergio Leone and Federico Fellini. He shot Totò a colori (1952) (Toto' a Colori), the first Italian movie in color. Delli Colli is most fondly remembered for his sweeping, panoramic landscapes and detailed close-ups of actors' faces in the seminal spaghetti western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966).
