Luc Robitaille is a professional hockey player, who at the time Sudden Death (1995) was filmed, was playing with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Since then, he was traded to the New York Rangers on August 31, 1996. He has accomplished 50-goal season three times in his 10 NHL seasons. Robitaille set the NHL record of of most goals and total points scored by a left wing in the NHL with 63 goals and 125 points in the 1992-93 season. Robitaille has made the NHL All-Star team five times. In his rookie season of 1986-87, Robitaille captured the Calder Trophy, which is awarded to the NHL rookie of the year. Robitaille was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings, but traded to the Penguins following the 1993-94 season and is, as mentioned before, currently with the Rangers. Was born in Montreal, Québec.

Luc Robitaille is a Canadian professional ice hockey executive and former player. He served as president of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL).

During his 19-season NHL career, Robitaille won the Stanley Cup in 2001-02 with the Detroit Red Wings, and played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers Hockey Team, but is most known for his 14 seasons with the Los Angeles Kings. He served as the Kings' team captain during the 1992-93 season (while Wayne Gretzky was injured) and for the final two games of the 2005-06 season. Robitaille retired after the 2005-06 season as the highest-scoring left winger in NHL history and the holder of several Kings franchise records, along with numerous Kings playoff records. In 2017, Robitaille was named one of the "100 Greatest NHL Players" in history.
