Quincy Jones III is the son of composer, musician, and producer Quincy Jones and Ulla Andersson. He was raised in Sweden. He has six sisters. Martina "Tina" Jones is his full sister. Jolie Jones is an older half-sister whose mother is Quincy Jones' first wife, Jeri Caldwell. Kidada Jones and Rashida Jones are the daughters of Quincy Jones and his third wife, actress Peggy Lipton. Kenya Julia Miambi Sarah Jones is Quincy Jones' daughter with actress Nastassja Kinski. Rachel Jones is another half-sister whose mother is Carol Reynolds. Now a well-known music producer under the moniker QDIII, his debut album, "Soundlab," featured various artists including Justin Warfield. He also produced tracks for Yolanda 'Yo-Yo' Whittaker (Yo-Yo), Ice Cube, Tupac Shakur, Justin Warfield and many others.

QDIII grew up in Stockholm Sweden, were he got his start in hip-hop by touring as a break dancer. At age 13, he got his first drum machine and started producing demos for local hip-hop acts, which eventually lead him to his first gold record at the age of 16. At that point, QDIII packed up and moved to New York City to pursue his dream to be a hip-hop producer in the US. He spent a year and a half in New York working with old school legends such as T La Rock, who was the first artist signed to Def Jam; and Special K of the group Treacherous 3, which also featured Kool Moe Dee.

In 1986, hip-hop had not yet developed into a profitable business, and QDIII decided to attend Berklee College of Music to learn more about mixing records and studio technology. After a year at Berklee, QDIII moved to Los Angeles, California, where he immediately hooked up with Dr. Dre and Ruthless records, produced a project there, and the rest, as the cliché goes, is history.

With many gold, platinum, and multi-platinum albums and singles to his name, QDIII is a bona-fide hit maker in hip-hop, R&B and pop. In addition to his many hits for artists such as Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube, and LL Cool J, he has remixed singles for artists such as Prince, Ronald Isley, Queen Latifah, Coolio, Naughty by Nature, Everlast (Erik Schrody), and Morcheeba, among others. For this work, QDIII was nominated for a Source magazine award for Producer of the Year, along with Dr.Dre and others. QDIII's activity in the film and television arenas includes the score for the Hughes Brothers' critically acclaimed box-office smash Menace II Society (1993) as well as songs featured in Gang Related (1997), Panther (1995), and Jason's Lyric (1994). QDIII also composed theme songs for the comedy series In the House (1995), which starred L.L. Cool J; Out All Night (1992), which featured Patti LaBelle; The PJs (1999), which was Eddie Murphy's weekly animated comedy series (for which QDII received an Emmy nomination); and the theme for Grown Ups (1997), which starred Jaleel White. ASCAP honored QDIII with the 1993 ASCAP Composers' Award for his work on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990), which starred Will Smith.
