On June 6, 2008, she and Gibson USA announced the launch of the Joan Jett Signature Melody Maker guitar, marking the first Gibson electric signature model designed in conjunction with a female artist.

At Cal Ripken's request, she sang the national anthem at the game in which Ripken tied Lou Gehrig's record for consecutive games played.

Songs "Bad Reputation" and "Cherry Bomb" are ranked #29 and #52 respectively on VH1's 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs.

She started her own record label, Blackheart Records, because no one else would sign them.

After her parents divorced, she changed her last name to Jett, her mother's maiden name.

I think there's nothing better than seeing a three-chord straight up rock 'n' roll band in your face with sweaty music and three-minute good songs.

I don't want to lessen my own achievements, but it's just not that difficult [to play in a band]. If you're in good health and like to travel, I don't see why more women don't automatically want to do it.

[on her refusal to appear in Edgeplay (2004), a film about The Runaways] To me, The Runaways is my baby, so you have to understand my perspective. If there's gonna be a Runaways movie, it should be about what we accomplished, the tours we did, the bands we played with, the people we inspired. I'm not gonna participate in a Jerry Springer fest, bottom line. With any band, you're gonna have interpersonal conflicts, but if that's what they thought The Runaways were about, about breaking a bass or putting on make-up, well, it's very disappointing. Very, very disappointing. I wanted nothing to do with it because that's not the band I was in. [The film] was a totally different take on what went down.
