Biography

Stanley Myers was born on October 6, 1930 in Birmingham, England, UK. He was a composer, known for The Witches (1990), The Deer Hunter (1978) and Prick Up Your Ears (1987). He was married to Brigitta Stroeh and Eleanor Fazan. He died on November 9, 1993 in London, England, UK.

Is probably best known for composing 'Cavatina', which became famous worldwide as the title music for The Deer Hunter (1978). The theme had previously been used in the film The Walking Stick (1970).

Myers wrote a soundtrack for Age of Consent (1969) at the request of the studio and this was used to replace the original soundtrack by Peter Sculthorpe. The Sculthorpe soundtrack was the director's preferred soundtrack and this has now been restored.
