Luke Freeborn is a production designer and world builder drawn to ambitious movies that demand a complete visual language. He begins with the emotional idea at the core of a story, then builds outward, to create environments with history, logic, texture, and a life beyond the frame.
His latest feature, J.J. Abrams’ The Great Beyond, is his most original world-building project to date. Luke has also played a central role in defining and expanding Paramount’s live-action Sonic franchise as production designer of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 3, 4, and Knuckles.
Across more than two decades, his credits have included Inception, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: Fire and Ash, Star Trek, Logan, Passengers, Minority Report, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and many others.
Luke brings bold ideas, rigorous craft, and clear creative leadership to projects of every scale. He’s about building worlds that deepen the story, support performance, and remain with an audience after the film ends.
