Her favorite movies include Inglourious Basterds (2009), Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011), and The 39 Steps (1935).

During high school, Herrera worked as a mechanical engineer intern under federal security clearance and was also on the track, cross country, swim, basketball, and drill teams.

Had to decline an audition invitation from Mali Finn for a role in Foxfire (1996) due to a job commitment. She was later cast by Ms. Finn in The Green Mile (1999).

Was a member of the Los Angeles theater company, Nailing the Kipper Presents.

Herrera's Spanish great-grandfather served as the first chief of police of Española, New Mexico, before the illegal drug trade ravaged many communities of that area.
