Uncle of Cathy Sandrich Gelfond and David Sandrich.

Started his career as a 2nd assistant director on I Love Lucy. Early on, he was mentored by the acclaimed TV producer Sheldon Leonard.

Prolific TV director, elected to the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 2020.

Ex-brother-in-law of actress Vanessa Brown.

Younger brother of director/producer Mark Sandrich Jr..

After graduating from UCLA in 1953, Sandrich entered the U.S. Army and made documentaries for the Signal Corps.

Has three children: Eric, Tony, and Wendy, and four grandchildren.

Has directed 2 Emmy Award-winning performances: Cloris Leachman in The Lars Affair (1973), Phyllis Whips Inflation (1975) and Roscoe Lee Browne in The Card Game (1986) .

He is interred at Westwood Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California.
