Biography

Carl Drews was born on January 27, 1894 in Berlin, Germany. He was a cinematographer and actor, known for Das Geheimnis der Mumie (1921), Das Handicap der Liebe (1921) and The Last Waltz (1934). He died on September 3, 1983 in Berlin, Germany.

During World War II he only took part in few more feature movies like "Wunschonzert" (1940).

After World War II he did not continue his career as a cinematographer for the cinema, he only shot few documentaries.

The cinematographer Carl Drews finished an education as a film lab assistant and at the age of only 14 he already got the chance to work as an assistant for the cinematographer Franz Mletzko who shot documentaries.

His professional development became interrupted with the conscription to the army during World War I. After the war he gained a foothold in the film business where he started as a cinematographer from 1920.
