- A film set is just a never-ending hell.
- Every so often Britain turns out a good film - that does't mean a comeback. I know they say it is - for a whole two weeks! America makes films all the time and suddenly Britain thinks it's going to corner the world market in movies - it's fanciful nonsense.

- Never lose your temper. When the plane is delayed it's not the fault of the girl at the desk. I'm resigned to the fact that everything is out of my control and that air travel nowadays is barbaric.
- It's all good fun - television and movies and so on - but the good thing in theatre is there's nothing and no one between you and the audience so you can do what you want really. You don't have producers and executives saying this has to be this way or that way, you don't have editors, you don't really have a director once it's open. There are so many people in film and television that get between a performer and the audience, and that's frustrating.
