Uschi Digard was born in Saltsjö-Duvnäs, near Stockholm, Sweden. At 16 she left home, traveled to Paris and spent a year there and then in Italy before journeying further to England. She returned to her native Sweden but finally settled in the United States in 1967. Working as a translator for the jewelry trade, she was told so often that she should model she eventually decided to give it a try. Before long she was appearing in adult films and was eventually "discovered" by filmmaker Russ Meyer. After a long and illustrious career she retired in 1989.

She speaks eight languages (German, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, French and English). Now married, she lives in Palm Springs, California, for two weeks out of every month; the rest of the time she spends in her private pad in North Hollywood.

Was approached on a regular basis to do explicit hardcore movies at the height of her popularity, but turned them down.
Was one of the most popular men's magazine models in the late '60s and '70s, and a favorite model and actress for photographer and filmmaker Russ Meyer, who specialized in showcasing "amply endowed" women.
In a 2013 podcast telephone interview with www.therialtoreport.com, she said that her birthdate, which is usually given as 1948, is wrong, but she didn't say when it really was. She also said that she was actually born in Switzerland, not Sweden or the USA as is often given. In addition, she said her real first name is Ursula, not Uschi, and that she does not use the stage name of "Digart", as is often written.
Of Swiss/Swedish descent, her deep tan was attributed to sunbathing in Florida.
Was at one time a professional wrestler.

When I started to develop at 11 I had to strap myself in, because it wasn't seemly to have breasts, and we all wore uniforms. By age 15 I was a 40DD.

[nude modeling early in her career leading to acting] I did pretty-girl modeling first for all major magazines and in all the double-folds and covers, and so the agency started to get calls from people who wanted to use me in films. These were skinflicks, but usually films which had a story and had a reason for the sex, but they did have nudity so they would call them sexploitation pictures. Some of them were pretty good and made good money.
