Angel moves into pre-sales with TIFF: The Market title ‘Rode To Ruin’

Angel is moving into international pre-sales after acquiring worldwide rights to the upcoming western thriller Rode To Ruin that will see Michael Keaton direct and star alongside Morgan Freeman.

The production from Freeman and Lori McCreary’s Revelations Entertainment and Keaton’s George & Leona Productions will be available to international buyers at next week’s TIFF: The Market running September 10-16.

Alyson Hannigan famously played a witch in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," but Willow Rosenberg was not the actress's first on-screen brush with the supernatural. She starred in a short-lived, now-forgotten sitcom where she played a teenager whose dad hired a housekeeper who was secretly a witch.

Mindy Kaling and Max Greenfield will partner up to adapt Tess Sanchez’s “We’ve Decided To Go In A Different Direction” into a series at Warner Bros. Television.

The bestselling book of essays reflects on her time as a Hollywood casting director as well as the industry turmoil that prompted her role to be eliminated and for her to pivot her career while navigating her marriage and family commitments.

“We’ve Decided To Go In A Different Direction” was first published by Simon & Schuster imprint Gallery in 2025, with a foreword written by Sanchez’s husband, Greenfield.

Sanchez is attached to executive produce the series, which doesn’t have a distributor attached,

‘Don’t Get High’ Comedy Pilot Not Going Forward At Hulu

Exclusive: Hulu has opted not to proceed with its comedy pilot Don’t Get High starring Tony Hale, from Megan Ganz and 20th Television.

Don’t Get High was one of several YA pilots Hulu had ordered over the past year and a half as the streamer is looking to beef up its offerings in the arena. Hulu recently also passed on the Buffy reboot pilot New Sunnydale, with YA drama pilot Foster Dade still awaiting decision. Picked up to series last year was YA comedy-mystery pilot Phony starring Connie Britton and Sam Nivola.

In Don’t Get High, an alpha dork and her merry gang of dweebs start an anti-drug group at their high school to make friends and influence people. It doesn’t go well.

The series regular cast included Hale, Ashley Brooke, Olivia Gill, Oscar Williams, Erin Morton and Daniel Rosales.

Ganz served as writer, executive producer and showrunner.
